Our mission
Rain or Shine Rescue is a 501(c)3 nonprofit animal rescue based in New York City. We provide safe, caring foster homes for dogs and cats that are most vulnerable in a shelter environment, such as senior and special-need animals and those in need of medical attention. We see them through rehabilitation and when they’re ready for adoption, match them with loving, committed adopters. We facilitate out-of-state adoptions and welcome fosters and volunteers across the Northeast to join our team!
Foster program
We work with fosters across the U.S. Northeast! Our rescue pets live in foster homes where they can safely decompress, receive medical care and training, and acclimate to life as a companion animal. We do not have a shelter location to hold our rescue animals. Therefore, the number of lives we can save depends entirely on foster availability. Adoptions
Why adopt? So many dogs and cats end up in shelters or survive as strays on the streets through no fault of their own. When you adopt from a rescue or shelter, you are not just bringing home a pet, you are saving a life. Rain or Shine makes sure that all our adoptable pets are fully vetted and provide adopters detailed, transparent medical and behavior history on every pet, and ongoing support post-adoption.
